Understanding Products, Bottles, Collections, and Locations

Before we start, let’s clear up some terms you’ll see.

Setup Wizard

When you log in for the first time, you’ll see the setup wizard banner. This is the easiest place to start.

On the setup wizard, you’ll be greeted with a page that shows you some of the benefits of our app, once you’ve familiarized youself with these, you can hit Next.

Now, you’ll be prompted to customize your first “Collection”, as we discussed earlier, this is a group of bottles. You can keep it very general or get more granular. You’ll setup your first Collection in the wizard and can add as many as you want later from the My Collections page.

Some common examples of Collections are:

  • Everyday
  • General
  • Vintages
  • Top Shelf
  • Gifts (you can add who it’s from to the bottle notes later, if you want!)
  • anything else you want!

Whatever you choose to make your first one will be your default, but you can switch this to another collection in your settings later if you’d like to change it.

Hit Next, and you’re on Locations. We’ll choose our first Location, which is how we highlight where bottles are physically stored. Again, you can get as granular as you’d like here – with no limit on the number of locations you can create. Some examples are:

  • Wine Cellar
  • Drinks Cabinet/Globe
  • Cooler
  • Pantry/Storage
  • Bar Display
  • Bar Shelf
  • Decanter (Helpful to identify spirits in a decanter, instead of the original bottle).
  • Anywhere else you keep you drinks.

Hit Next again, and you’ll be invited to create your first bottle. Once you proceed to the next step, you’ll leave the wizard and go to the Add Bottle page, where you can search our database and add start building your inventory. As a reminder, if your desired product is not yet in our database, you can always add it with the Product Wizard (and you’ll help out the next user!).

Congrats, you’ve now completed the basic Product Wizard. To continue the setup process, we’d recommend setting up the below features, if you plan on using them.
